ALINA KEEGAN

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
National Certified Counselor

Therapy helps people make meaningful, positive changes in their lives. My clients say that when they begin therapy, they often feel that their distress is never going to end. Once engaged in therapy they start realizing that they can do something to improve their situation. This leads to changes that enhance healthy behaviors and allow them to live happy, fulfilling lives. While some issues respond best to a particular style of therapy, what remains critical is the therapeutic relationship. Indeed, many of my clients have told me that having a therapist they trusted who cared and believed in them helped them the most.

For many people, asking for help or support can feel more like climbing a mountain. Asking for support is an act of courage, not weakness. We all encounter sadness, anxiety, loneliness, self-doubt, pain and loss. No issue is too big or too small. People are stronger and more resilient than they may realize. I work to show them that they deserve the chance to live their best life.

I am down to earth, compassionate, honest. Our sessions are warm, conversational, collaborative and filled with encouragement. I work to create a safe space for you where you feel heard and know you are not alone. I will help you develop your inner ability to make the changes you want and find the guidance you need to navigate challenges in your life.

I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Adler University. I specialize in working with trauma survivors and  individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+. As an EMDR trained therapist I collaborate with my clients to reprocess and move forward from those moments in life that were confusing, painful, angering, traumatic, and life-changing in a safe, encouraging environment. Over the course of my career I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in settings ranging from hospitals and non-profit agencies to schools and colleges.

My expertise includes helping people gain insight and a greater self-awareness, achieve a deeper understanding of their past and present, get relief from emotional pain, heal trauma, overcome anxiety and depression, and learn new tools to assist them in moving forward with confidence and hope. If any of this might be helpful to you, please reach out.
